A Great Speech Was Delivered by Prof. Chun-Nan Hsu
September 25th 2018, IBM iIoT Research Center has invited Prof. Chun-Nan Hsu (UC San Diego School of Medicine) to give us a speech at Engineering Building D. ED 816. Our honored speaker was briefly introduced by Prof. Hung-Han Shuai and warmly welcomed by all the participants.
Prof. Chun-Nan Hsu worked on applying innovative machine learning and data mining technologies to big data for biomedical science research. During the past few years, he focused his research mainly on biomedical and clinical natural language processing (bioNLP and cNLP). The topic of the speech today was Entity Normalization Algorithms for Biomedical Text Mining. Prof. Chun-Nan Hsu reviewed state-of-the-arts and presented some new algorithms that his team is currently developing.
The speech attracted widespread attention in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Applied Mathematics, and Institute of Statistics. In discussion session, participants shared their ideas and questions positively. Prof. Hung-Han Shuai drew the speech to a close with a few final remarks and great thanks.
